Hanging textile sculpture titled with us by Ludmila Bubanova. The artwork is made of light organic felted wool, resembling conjoined human figures with dark spiral seams on the sides and long, braided cords cascading to the floor.

„…with us” is a soft wool sculpture that speaks about female community as a form of resistance. Rooted in my Slovak heritage, it connects the exhausting, physical labor of rural women from the past to the invisible, unpaid care work of today. Inspired by an archival photo of Liptov women sewing in a closed circle, the sculpture takes the shape of a unified „collective body.”

I hand-felted the organic wool, mixing the base beige with shades of pink, purple, and green. The resulting surface closely mimics human skin—marked by veins, bruises... The slow, demanding process of felting the wool myself became a symbolic act of care for those exhausted female bodies.

The sculpture resembles conjoined figures with intertwined spines, and it is meant to be touched. Viewers are invited to slide their hands into specific openings in the fabric in the place of elbows. This allows them to physically reach inside the „body” and even hold hands with another person standing on the opposite side, creating a direct, physical moment of connection and solidarity.
